Drought can be dangerous
This is how you avoid fires in nature

Just a few days ago, the German Weather Service warned of another drought summer. It should be warm and extremely dry. This is not only exhausting for humans and animals. The vegetation also suffers from the lack of water.
This creates a high risk of fire in many parts of Germany. Often a negligently thrown cigarette is enough to set entire forests on fire. Fires can be avoided very easily, according to the Rhineland-Palatinate fire brigade association. The association gives five tips to prevent fires.

Never dispose of cigarettes or other burning objects in nature.

Not even from your own car - embankment fires can quickly break out on the road.
Never park vehicles with hot exhaust systems on dry fields or meadows! The temperature can already be high enough to start a fire.
Smoking bans in forests should be taken seriously.
Barbecue fires may only be lit in designated areas.

Fires and smoke development should be reported immediately to the pan-European emergency number 112. Emerging fires can be extinguished independently, provided that this does not put you in danger.

These tips seem mundane but would avoid a wide variety of fires.

Fires keep coming back in the summer months because cigarettes were thrown away or barbecues were left unattended.
